Outside of business, Robert is a keen sportsman and avid cyclist, and regularly competes in the Cape Argus Race, South Africa. Robert will also complete the 2015 Rapha Randonnée Alps cycle tour, from Geneva-Nice, taking in historic climbs of the Tour de France. He is committed to supporting local charities by funding raising for the Snowdrop Trust and the Chichester Dementia Support Group. In 2014 Robert took part in the Tour de Force ride to raise funds for the William Wates Memorial Trust.

Natures Way Foods

Natures Way Foods is committed to supporting the local community and operates a dedicated Community Plan which focuses on education, sponsorship, volunteering and charity support. With a strong family history in West Sussex, Robert feels it is important to give something back to the local community.

In 2009 Natures Way Foods launched its Field to Fork programme to educate children about the journey of salad from a seed to the dinner table, encouraging healthy eating and helping children understand where their food comes from. Natures Way Foods has since seen hundreds of children visit the company sites and built strong relationships with many local schools.

In addition to supporting a range of local organisations and charities, Natures Way Foods has also sponsored the Chichester Triathlon since 2007. The event, organised by Chichester District Council, welcomes hundreds of participants every year, some from as far away as Australia, competing in both the triathlon and junior aquathon.

Alongside Natures Way Foods’ community work, the company is dedicated to reducing waste and improving its carbon footprint to minimize impact on the environment. Natures Way Foods is actively engaged in recycling and all systems are designed to achieve a target of zero waste to landfill. Process water from Natures Way Food sites is filtered and then used to irrigate local fields, salad and fruit waste is composted to fertilise local fields, and biodiversity areas on Natures Way Foods sites work to enhance local flora and fauna where possible.
