Supporting women in property on International Women’s Day, and every day

As we mark this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th, the Kingsbridge team are playing their part to help women succeed in the property and construction industries.

Education and progression

In support of young women taking their first steps in the industry, and in line with this year’s IWD theme of “Invest in women: accelerate progress”, we have partnered with Chichester College to share the knowledge of women in the Kingsbridge team with female students.

In our first collaboration with the college, we have worked with Tracy Fisher, who heads a variety of construction-related courses, to create an event supporting young women starting out in the industry.

The event, held just ahead of IWD, saw Rachel Lacklison, Asset Manager at Kingsbridge, Fiona Day, Assistant Asset Manager, and Zanna Duncan, Management Accountant, talk with female students about possible career paths while sharing their own experiences of working in the industry.

Rachel, Fiona and Zanna have first-hand experience of how the supportive work environment at Kingsbridge encourages career progression in roles where women are historically under-represented.

Rachel joined Kingsbridge as a graduate, progressing to her current senior role, in which she is responsible for strategic management of our property portfolio, overseeing landlord and tenant matters and managing leasing strategies.

After joining Kingsbridge as an Estates Administrator, Fiona was supported and mentored to study for three years alongside her day-to-day work, achieving her MRICS qualification to become a Chartered Surveyor in 2023. Zanna has recently completed her ACCA Accountancy Apprenticeship to become a fully qualified accountant.

We are pleased to have formed this new relationship with Chichester College and look forward to exploring other ways the Kingsbridge team can support Tracy, her students and the college in the future.

In a similar vein, we are pleased to be welcoming a Year 11 female student from a school in Surrey for a work placement this summer, helping her to find out more about the industry through first-hand experience.

Strong Female Lead event

Rachel will also be a speaker at this year’s Collaboration 360 International Women’s Day event held at The Grand, Southampton.

She is among a line-up of women from the region who are speaking on March 8th to share their personal journeys in fields which have historically been male dominated, including science, technology, arts and mathematics, web development and property and construction.

The IWD event is part of the Strong Female Lead series of events being held in the run-up to this year’s South Coast Commercial Property Show, now in its fifth year.
